Love Triangles… Love Them or Love Them Not?

Love is in the air this month! I love talking about love, and I especially love including it in my books. In my Fae Bloodlines Series, which is divided into sets of duologies, I feature forbidden love, then enemies-to-lovers. In my Final Life Series, I feature, drumroll please… a love triangle!!

I’ve been carrying around the notion that while some people LOVE love triangles, most don’t. 😝 But when I conducted an informal poll in a FB group in preparation of this blog post, I found that I was wrong. The majority of people said they really enjoyed a love triangle…if done right. Like most of the people who answered my poll, I do enjoy a well done and thought out love triangle.

When I wrote Final Life, I was heavily influenced by Twilight and The Hunger Games. I’m a huge fan of these books. And for me, these books represent the love triangle trope well because the relationships are slow-building, natural, and believable. A girl finding comfort in a friend when her boyfriend abandons her? Believable! A girl who finds herself falling for a guy standing by her side during a brutal survival game while the guy she initially had feelings for stays home? Also believable!

And for those of you who are wondering, I’m totally Team Edward!! Sorry, Jacob. lol

In the Final Life Series, Dominique is a seventeen-year-old girl who’s been tracked and hunted for lifetimes by a supernatural villain. As her survival story unfolds, she finds herself having feelings for the mysterious and powerful protector by her side, as well as the incredible and seemingly ordinary guy from her school.

Other amazing books with love triangles are The Selection, Shadow and Bone, Legendborn, An Ember in the Ashes, and Red Queen. Just to name a few!

How do you feel about love triangles? And what are you favorites? Let me know in the comments!
