My Take on Top Gun: Maverick

I’ve been posting movie reviews on my FB PAGE and in my FB READER GROUP for a few weeks now, and I though it’d be fun to share them on my blog too!

The first movie I reviewed was TOP GUN MAVERICK! So let’s get to it!

When the original movie, Top Gun, came out in May 1986, I was a junior in high school, (yes, I'm THAT old ). I saw the movie in the theater and LOVED it! So when word started circulating about a second movie, I was skeptical. What would the story line be? Would it be any good?

Well, I finally got around to seeing the movie last weekend and HOLY MOLY, it was INCREDIBLE!! The storyline was exciting and heart wrenching, the actors were perfect, and all the stunt work that Tom Cruise did was INSANE. Whatever magic juice he's chugging, and whatever mega vitamins he's taking, is working! Someone sign me up for some of that!! He was out there shirtless on the beach playing football with a bunch of 20-30 years old and holding his own in the most spectacular way. And the flying stunts he did?! WOAH!! I can't even ride a baby roller coaster and can barely hold my balance when putting on a SOCK! HA!

I was also blown away by the scene with Val Kilmer. I had read that his scene pulled on the heartstrings, and I had heard that his voice was done with AI technology because his throat cancer had taken away his ability to speak, but honestly I didn't know what to expect. But let me just say this…the scene had me all choked up and overwhelmed with all kinds of feelings. Val Kilmer was brilliant. The emotion in his eyes was beyond moving. The sincerity between him and Tom Cruise was so tender. I think, even more than the stunts, this is the scene that stays with me the most. (Even more than Miles Teller dancing...lol)

Anyway, what about you. Have you seen seen the movie?
